Windows XP mode, introduced in Windows 7 is a cool new feature to support legacy systems and applications that does not work in Windows 7. In simple terms, Windows XP mode is a Virtual Machine on its own running on Windows Virtual PC but bit more integrated tightly into the native OS (Windows 7).
Just when I ran into a problem with my VMWare Server, I found this cool new online tool, easyVMX to create VMWare Virtual Machines which can be run using vmplayer.
Scary moment occurred last week when one of my virtual machines failed to start from VMWare Workstation. The reported error was “failed to lock the file”.

When you install Windows Server 2008 as a Guest OS on a Windows Server 2008 running Hyper-V role, you may find this guest OS without any network when booted up. This could happen if the Integration Services is not installed on the Guest OS. The Integration Services installs the Guest OS components as in any other virtualization system like VMWare or VirtualBox.
