JavaCool Software have written some simple but cool utilities of which we have seen a few here in Windowsreference. There is yet another tool from them which is equally cool.

DocScrubber is a metadata anaylser and eraser for Microsoft Word documents. It is simple easy to use software which can analyse and scrub metadata of one or more word documents on your hard drive.

Metadata are hidden information about your documents which you would never care about checking and modifying. These include

Author, Hidden Revision Logs, GUID, Comments, Keywords, Subjects, Recent Hyperlinks, Last Saved Date, Last Edited By Information, Last Printed Date, Revision Count, Total Editing Time etc

For instance, you wouldn’t want your proposal document for a client a previous employers name on it.

DocScrubber is free for personal use and can work on various Microsoft Word versions. DocScrubber can be downloaded here
