Fences and organize your Desktop icons in Windows

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to Windows Reference RSS feed Thanks for visiting!

Just came across this cool interesting software for Windows. Fences is a program that helps you organize your desktop, and can hide your icons when they’re not in use. Fences allows you to create a feence which is a simple grouping of icons on your desktop. These are shaded areas on your desktop which is fully customizable and you can label, move resize these fences as you wish. It has builtin layouts which can help you quickly organize your icons

The most interesting feature with Fences is that, if you choose to have a clean vew of the desktop, simply double-click on the desktop and all the fences disappear and when you need them simply double-click again and you have your icons / fences back on the desktop. This can come handy, if your desktop is cluttered with icons or even fences. Also, gives a pleasant view of the desktop if you have custom desktop backgrounds.

Other features include SmartFences, snapshots, skinning, automatic scaling (for screen size changes) etc. Fences is free for personal use and can be downloaded here. Fences works on Windows Vista & Windows XP (need to check this on Windows 7)
