What if I said, you may never have to use your mouse or touchpad again? Yes, Launchy is an application launcher for Windows. Launchy is a free utility designed to help you forget about your start menu, the icons on your desktop, and even your file manager. Originally,  designed for Windows XP can be made to work in Windows 2000 as well.

Launchy indexes the programs in your start menu and can launch your documents, project files, folders, and bookmarks with just a few keystrokes!

When Launchy is running in the background, it disappears and can be brought up using the <alt><space> key combination. Simply type what you are looking for and press <enter>.

For instance, to launch command prompt simply type “command” and press enter. If you are looking for more options, type “com” and press DOWN Arrow.

 

How, about google search from Launchy. Simply type “google” and press <tab> and type your search query. For instance, search for our Windows Reference as

google <tab> windowsreference

Launchy supports plugin archtecture which allows adding additional functionalities. Also, different skins are available for you choose from. Any settings including the hot keys <ALT><SPACE> or add/delete plugins or changing skins can be altered by clicking the settings button on the top right corner.
