vikrant you will be lucky to get a free download of norton, that would be piracy and could get you arrested. This is a list of free non pirated antiviruses, if you have to pirate a copy of norton then go elsewhere to get it.

and are using a netbook ,with xp programme,
i dont know which one to choose.
and ,are they totally safe,?my carsperski free antivirus ,stops tomorrow..
should i delete it , first ,and then try to add ,avast,for example?

Downloading AVG. Thanks for the list. I used to have an old version of Norton, except It’s not compatible in Windows Vista and I’m not bothered to buy another one.

I tried to download the AVG protector, and I couldnt get it to work. I have a Windows Vista with Norton antivirus still on, but I cant pay to have it kept on.
When I was downloading AVG, a box popped up that asked me if I wanted to continue, and I hit continue, than a box small box popped up that said FILE IS CORRUPT!!
Is it because I didnt get rid of Norton yet? I tried another antivirus protector, and the same thing happened. What should I do? Norton is still running, but I havent paid for it and I dont know how long it will keep going for.
Please help

I’m having same problem as Patricia from 1/24/09. I have Vista OS, and when I try to download AVG, Avira, or Avast the download is extremely slow and I eventually get message installation cannot complete, file corrupt. I have already deleted Norton and have no other antivirus programs running. I would like to download free antivirus software, but so far cannot. Can you help?

Ive been using it for 6 months now and my pc is spotless..if u wana get a second opinion whether ur avira really works, try downloadiong the kaspersky trial version and run a full scan with avira disabled in order to see the results.
Also, kaspersky is pretty cool,..pity its not free

However, which from your top 3 list is the best antivirus for me? I have a 1GbRAM 1.73GHz Core-2-Duo laptop that runs windows vista home basic. It came with norton antivirus already but it has expired couple of days ago.

I’m looking for an antivirus thats not heavy for the system since I’m needing it for this laptop… We all know that laptops performs slower than a desktop computer even if you get the best performing laptop in the market. So I need something that does not freeze, pause or slow down the system as I use it or while I’m on it. Coz there are few antivirus I’m aware of and have used in the past that slows down the system that it takes a few seconds or even a minute or so just to open a window or a file. This is crucial for me specially that I’m always using my laptop for LIVE MULTIMEDIA (music performances,videos,presentations) purposes.

Can you help me figure out which FREE antivirus bests fits for my laptop??? It would be a great relief and a great satisfaction if you could help me figure out which one.

I tried Avast (full paid version) and thought it was TERRIBLE!! I was in the middle of a game and all of a sudden my computer crashed. After a LONG journey I found out it was because the antivirus program failed to catch the trojans. Since then, I have used Norton’s. I know Norton is kind of expensive (especially when you don’t have the money to really spend on it) but it’s well worth the price versus the headache of viruses
