My Documents folder at Windows System Startup

Sometimes when you log into the Windows XP or Windows 2000, you may see the My Documents folder opening up at th startup. This could be due to a long filename or a file path with spaces in the startup programs list.

To troubleshoot the problem, please try the following:

1. Click Start – Run, type, MSINFO32 and press enter. This will open the System Information window.

2. Click the Software Environment and then Startup. This will show the exact command lines of the software loaders. if you find any path that uses a long file name or a path with spaces then this entry could be the problem.

3. Now, click Start – Run, type REGEDIT and press enter. This will open the Windows Registry Editor.

4. Navigate to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

\SOFTWARE

\Microsoft

\Windows NT

\CurrentVersion

\Winlogon

5. Change the value that reads as,

C:\Windows\Syste32\Userinit.exe,C:\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe

to

C:\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe,

Note: The last coma should be present.

This should fix the problem.
