How to open links or Shortcuts in a new window or tab in Internet Explorer

Sometimes while browsing, you may come across links or weblinks. Clicking the links may open the new website in the same window as you are browsing. While the webmasters can control how this opens (either in the same window or in a new window), Internet Explorer can let you to take control as well.
In Internet Explorer, you can make new links to always open in a new window or a new tab if in Internet Explorer 7 tabbed browsing is enabled.
To open links in a new window in Internet Explorer 6 or early,
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools – Internet Options.
3. Click Advanced and uncheck “Reuse Windows for launching shortcuts” under “Browsing”
4. Click Apply & OK.
To open links in a new window in Internet Explorer 7 with tabbed browsing,
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools – Internet Options.
3. Click Settings under “Tabs” in General. This will open the Tabbed browser settings.
4. Under “Open Links from other programs in”
“A new window” to open in a new window
“A new tab in current browser” to open a new tab
5. Click OK then OK to apply the changes.
6. Restart the browser for changes to take effect.
If tabbed browsing in Internet Explorer 7 is disabled then to open a link in a new window, click Advanced tab under Internet Options and uncheck “Reuse Windows for launching shortcuts (when tabbed browsing is off)”
This should make web links to either open in a new window or ew tab in Internet Explorer.
