  1. I am having trouble opening Power Point 7 attachments sent to me via e-mail. I tried the fix method shown on this page but it would not accept it (I think the words Microsoft Office typed in the “Application used to perform action” field may be the problem inasmuch as I do not have Microsoft Office, but rather have Microsoft XP. This is very frustrating!

  2. I tried to follow your instructions to be able to open PowerPoint Slide show. The second window does not have the tab I am instructed to select (File Types). I tried to search for the MS PowerPoint Slike Show folder, and search found only the letters I sent to HP about the problem of opening a pps file. Any other suggestions or instructions?

  3. VISTA IS GIVING ME A HEADACHE ALREADY
Why would you list this for Vista? The File Types tab is not there and as far as I see there is no way to do a new association to fix the Win mail/.ppt.pps file association error. Why take that function away to being with?

We need a way to work this out so we can make new file associations instead of the vista way of saying ok, open with and that be it…

  4. My Folder options does not have a “File Type” tab.

  5. I AM RUNNING XP. I HAVE TWO ACCOUNTS ON MY COMPUTER. WHEN I SEND A PPS OR VIDEO TO MY SON HE CAN NOT OPEN THEM.HE CAN OPEN FROM OTHER PEOPLE. IF I SEND THEM TO MY WIFE’S ACCOUNT AND SHE FORWARDS THEM TO MY SON HE CAN OPEN THEM. SOME PEOPLE IN MY CLUB CAN OPEN, SOME CAN NOT?
    CAN YOU EXPLAIN THIS?

  6. Here is the fix for the above program (open .pps )

There is a typing error in the”application” entrance:

change the dash (\)just before ‘pptview.exe’ to a slash (/)

    everything else is o.k.
