How to View Two Documents, Side by Side in Word 2007

When you are comparing two Word documents, having them next to each other is a necessity. Word 2007 makes it easy to place your two documents side by side.

First you need to Open both of the your documents in Word 2007.One of the open files to be the open document.

Now Go to the Ribbon and select the View tab.In the Window section, select View Side by Side

Both documents will appear next to each other on your screen.

Can you zoom in or out independently on each document you have set up to view side by side?

How do you stop the synchonisation?

How do you stop the screen down synchronisation?

There is a button directly underneath the Side-by-Side tool in the View tab that is labeled Scrolling Synchronization. You can use this button to turn the scrolling synch on and off. Hope this helps!!

Hello! Can you teach me how to open two documents side by side IN THE SAME Word 2007 session? (As to keep only one Word menu window for both documents…)
Tx! Regards.

I have a 22″ widescreen monitor. When I click “View side by side” the two documents do not fill up the entire screen. They are only fill approximately the space of a standard aspect ratio monitor. Any idea how to fix this?

Click the “Reset Window Position” button

I have used this often but today (!) when I open 2 documents – view side by side – is greyed out and not available – any ideas???

I am working in side by side and have changed the view so that I can see the whole page of each document and now the scroll bars are gone. How do i get the scroll bar back on each document?
