Google has released the Beta version of its new web browser “Google Chrome”. Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. One has to admire the true freedom of Internet with Google Admire. Google Chrome is light weight and simply browsing experience way better than any other flagship browser. It is all about simplicity without compromising on features and security. When I say features I really mean features that we need and not a blotted application with a million features we never use.

McAfee Site Advisor is a security website which checks websites and rates the website if it is Secure. SiteAdvisor is been rated as one of the best sites reporting on how secure a website is.

Fortunately, there is a plugin for Firefox browser which can be installed and loads to the bottom right corner of your corner and turns Green or Red based on its security check on the website. This is of great help for users who can make sure that the website they are browsing is secure enough and should they enter any confidential information in the website they can doublecheck before doing so. Also, helpful if you ended up in Phishing websites or sites vulnerable to attacks like Cross Site Scripting (XSS)

With Firefox 3 “One-Click Site info” security feature be sure where you go on the internet is where you intend to go and not mysteriously fooled into handing your confidential information as it happens with Phishing sites.

Firefox 3 hosts many new additional security features in addition to the enhancement on the accesibility and performance. One of the features is the “One-Click” site info wherein you simply click on the favicon of the website (the small icon that appears before the website address in the address bar)

Clicking the “Favicon” will display who owns the site and says if your access is encrypted and protected from eavesdropping. This is primarily a very important security feature especially with online bankings and ecommerce.

Last week a close friend of mine turned out to be a victim of Phishing scam and understandably was very upset. Phishers send well crafted emails as if coming from a valid source like your bank tricking you to enter your bank account or any portal (like eBay or Paypal) details including login and password or PIN numbers . Once, you enter the details, they are sent to remote servers. Now, that's more than anything for the hackers to loot money out of your account.

Taking seecurity seriously, we will discuss the community aided Netcraft tool bar for Internet Explorer & Firefox. First of all, I have to applaud NetCraft toolbar as by far the best toolbar that you can get for free. When I tested a new eBay scam email URL, no other toolbar other than NetCraft can catch the Phishing URL.

Haute Secure is a free Internet Explorer plugin that secures you from loading bad content or malicious content or download and install malware onto your PC. When the Haute Secure add-on on your internet explorer comes across bad content it will block access to the website and prompt you for further option. It will also warn of malicious content try to load from known website.

With Phishing scams, malicious malware spreading minute and the identity theft scams, it is important that we secure the browsers thereby no malicious content is downloaded onto the PC. Haute Secure supports only Internet Explorer at the moment but Firefox is expected to be onboard soon. There is also a Windows Vista 64 bit supported version available download.
