Unable to access network resources on non-Windows 7 systems from Windows 7 PC

When you connect your Windows 7 system to network of systems like Windows Server 2003, Windows XP and Windows Vista, you may be able to see these network systems on the network but not able to connect and access resources even if you enter the appropriate username and passwords or have proper access rights (if in a domain). This may work OK from Non Windows 7 PCs.

When running Windows Update in Windows Server 2003, Windows Update may fail with the error code 0×80190191. This could be caused by the winHTTP Web Proxy Auto Discovery Service.

WinHTTP implements the client HTTP stack and provides developers with a Win32 API and COM Automation component for sending HTTP requests and receiving responses. In addition, WinHTTP provides support for auto-discovering a proxy configuration via its implementation of the Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) protocol.

Path maximum transmission unit (PMTU) discovery is the process of discovering the maximum size of packet that can be sent across the network between two hosts without fragmentation (that is, without the packet being broken into multiple frames during transmission). By discovering the path MTU (PMTU) and limiting TCP segments to this size, TCP can eliminate fragmentation at routers along the path that connects networks with different MTUs. Fragmentation adversely affects TCP throughput and network congestion.
