The Windows Support Tools assist support personnel and network administrators in managing their networks and troubleshooting problems. They are not installed with the Windows operating system; you must install them separately from the \Support\Tools folder of the Windows operating system CD. This Help file provides information on the tools and shortcuts for opening or running these tools or you can download these tools from the following places

For Windows Server 2003

The Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools are a set of tools to help administrators streamline management tasks such as troubleshooting operating system issues, managing Active Directory®, configuring networking and security features, and automating application deployment.

The Windows Support Tools for Microsoft Windows Server 2003 are intended for use by Microsoft support personnel and experienced users to assist in diagnosing and resolving computer problems.

The Windows Support Tools for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 can be installed only on a computer that is running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 operating systems.

It is highly recommended that you remove all previous versions of Support Tools, including beta versions of the Windows Support Tools for Microsoft Windows Server 2003, before you run the Support Tools installation program.

Important: These tools have not been localized; they are written and tested only in the English language. Using these tools with a different language version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 may not work.

For windows Server 2000

Support personnel and network administrators can use the Windows 2000 Support Tools to help manage their networks and troubleshoot problems. Note that you should install the Windows 2000 Support Tools before you contact Microsoft for support. This article describes how to install the Windows 2000 Support Tools to a Windows 2000 Server-based computer.

Download Windows server 2000 service pack4 from here


Click the SP4 Support Tools link at the top of the page, under Download.

From the File Download dialog box, click Save this program to disk, and then click OK.

Navigate to the file location and double-click SP4SupportTools.exe.

he Windows 2000 Support Tools Setup Wizard will open. Click Next.

On the EULA screen, click I agree and Next.Enter your name and organization, and click Next.

Select Typical or Custom installation, and click Next.

If you chose the Typical installation method, click Next again to install the tools in a default directory (Note: By default, the support tools are installed on C:\Program Files\Support Tools).

If you chose the Custom installation method, choose components and change the installation directory, if necessary. Click Next.

Click Next to begin the installation.

After the installation, click Finish to exit the wizard.
