As announced by microsoft, the Windows 7 beta operating system license expires in the month of August 2009 (2nd August 2009 on my PC). However, when you run the winver command on your Windows 7 system, it will show that the license expires in July 2009 (1st July 2009).

The information displayed when you run the winver command is incorrect as below going by the words of Microsoft.

winver2

To clarifiy this,

1. Click Start and search for cmd. Right-click the cmd icon and select “Run As Administrator”.

2. Run the following command,

C:\Windows\system32>cscript %systemroot%\system32\slmgr.vbs -dlv

winver

This should show the software license details and you can see in the last but one line that the license actually expires in August (02.09.2009 on mine)

So no panic just yet!!!
