In this tutorial we will see how to create Shutdown,Restart and Abort shortcut in Vista these short cuts are very useful if you don’t want to go to start menu to shutdown,restart etc

Steps to Create Shutdown,Restart and abort Shortcut in Vista

First Right-click on the desktop -> select New -> Shortcut

In Type the location of the item box you need to enter the following commands which one you want to create shortcut

To Shutdown Computer

Shutdown.exe -s -t 00

To Restart Computer

Shutdown.exe -r -t 00

To Abort computer

shutdown.exe -a

To Lock computer

%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

In this example i am showing creating for shutdown and rest of them also same
Enter the command click next

Enter shortcut name and click finish

Now you should see similar to the following icon in your desktop.

If you want to change the icon for this shortcut Right-click on the shortcut icon -> select properties .Once you get the properties window click on Change Icon

Now you should see similar to the following message click ok

Here you need to choose the icon and click on 2 times

You can see your shortcut as below

Enjoy your new shortcut….
