If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to Windows Reference RSS feed Thanks for visiting!

When you try to install a new hardware device in Windows Vista, you may receive an error message that resembles the following

Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Device_Name

Because of this problem, you cannot install the drivers for the new hardware device.

This problem may occur if the Infcache.1 file is corrupted. When this problem occurs or when the Infcache.1 file is deleted, Windows Vista does not re-create the Infcache.1 file.

To resolve this problem, install this hotfix, and then try to install the hardware device again.

To resolve this problem, submit a request to Microsoft Online Customer Services to obtain the hotfix. To submit an online request to obtain the hotfix, visit the following Microsoft Web site from here
