How to Install Service Pack 1(SP1) in Windows vista

First you need to download SP1 from here if you are trying to download from windows update you may not see service pack1 try this to solve this problem.Once you downloaded this service pack double click .exe file you see vista sp1 welcome screen as follows click next
Accept Microsoft license term and click next
Close all your programs click on install
Installation in progress this time your vista machine will reboot couple of times for different stages of installation
Installation was completed succesfully click on finish
You can verify you SP1 installation open control panel click on system you can see the details
