How to uninstall Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) is an important update for Windows Vista. Windows Vista SP1 contains many reliability and usability updates for Windows Vista.
After you install Windows Vista SP1, you may notice that a hardware device or an installed program works differently. Therefore, you may want to uninstall Windows Vista SP1 as a troubleshooting step.
Method 1 – Using Control Panel
To uninstall Windows Vista SP1 by using the Programs and Features item in Control Panel, follow these steps:
- Click Start, type Appwiz.cpl in the Start Search box, and then click Appwiz.cpl in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
- Click View installed updates.
- Click Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB936330), and then click Uninstall.
- Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the uninstall process.
Method 2 – Using System Restore
To use System Restore in Windows Vista to remove Windows Vista SP1, follow these steps.
Important Note:- Before you use System Restore, make sure that you have restarted the computer at least one time since you have installed Windows Vista SP1. By restarting the computer, you allow for any remaining servicing processes to finish.
- Click Start, type rstrui in the Start Search box, and then click rstrui in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
- In the Restore System Files and Settings window, click Next.
- In the Choose a Restore Point window, click Install: Windows Vista Service Pack 1, and then click Next. Or, click a restore point that was created before you installed Windows Vista SP1, and then click Next.
Note:- The “Install: Windows Vista Service Pack 1″ restore point is the restore point that was created immediately before you installed Windows Vista SP1.
- Verify the restore point that you want to use, and then click Finish.

Hi, whenever i try to remove the service pack, i get an error “Service Pack failed to uninstall, Reverting Changes, Do not turn off your computer”
I have been using the service pack longer than system restore can reall, so it does not appear in the list.

Hi! i’m using VGN-CR13. before i used to update the BIOS, so the sound system back to normal. but this time, after update window vista service pack 1, it seems i have a problem with volume driver. The Microsoft WPD Filesystem Volume Driver is not working properly. So, pl anybody help me? i don wanna uninstall that service pack 1. any optional?

I have problem with the SP1 for Vista. After the instalation I can’t open my Control panel and the Properties. The restore system is giving me an error and the appwiz.cpl don’t start. If anyone can tell me how to remove the SP1 i’ll be very gratefull.
