I have partioned C and D drive, am running Vista Ultimate
I am running out of space on C and want to allowcate space from D to C. Before I do disk management and mess myself up, I am lookin for some help. Can this be done?
My C drive has 29gb and now about 100mb left. I have moved programs from C to D to free up space, but are there hidden areas on C I need to look for.
So I am asking two questions...
anyone plase help
Thanks

i got C and Q, wanna transfer 25gb to Q. Shrink 25gb from C and now i have 25gb unallocated. Yet, i can't expand Q.

After shrinking C, i found out that i can only expand on C itself with max expand of 25gb, the unallocated ones done by C itself. I can't even expand any of 3 other partition..

anyone can help?

I have recently made a huge mistake with disk management.
Whilst trying to alter the size of my drive, I have activated my recovery drive.
This has in turn caused my laptop to reboot and has booted straight to the recovery drives emergency program.
I exit to dos and the prompt is displaying the recovery drive as my C:\ drive, and there is no sign of my system drive (which has some very important files on!)
Can somebody please help me in the dire and urgent situation??
I could use the recovery program that claims to restore my Laptop to the delivered condition, but that would also mean losing all my files.
My only thought is to do that and try a recovery program!
But this is too risky for guesswork.

I hope somebody can help, many thanks in advance!
Please email me at ichange@live.com
many thanks.

In Vista 64 bit you can access Administrative Tools directly in Control Panel. This eliminates one step getting to Disk Management.

Sounds easy, but it doesn't work for me. I have a new emachine with equal sized c and d disks. Did a backup from the old machine, not so successful, because it wants to restore to c, but Vista disk management won't let me expand c, or shrink d. The expand c is grayed out, and shrink d is met with either not enough space available to do this, or simply access denied.
